A MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR

My serious recommendation in 2018 is for you to attend Sunday School, hear the Word proclaimed on Sunday mornings at First Church Baldwin, United Methodist, fellowship with Spiritual Champions at our coffee hour, and then do the crazy thing as though we are super bowl winners each Sunday: Go to Disney! That is right; go enjoy a Disney movie, for instance: Moana.

The tendency is to become too involved or not involved at all in learning the promises of God through the historical events from the Creation to the Crucifixion, when God, Church, and family fun is all above what God has already done good in the world for the people of God. God has given the gift of life eternal, so be happy for our hope, love, joy and peace is assured from the cradle into eternal celebration.

Yes, Jesus Christ has been here, done that, and He is coming back again. On the in between of the Alpha and Omega...might we enjoy the show? I plan to show up in the fruitful congregation of Baldwin, then Marie and I gonna pray, then stay awake for the show. Christ is showing up; Jesus is soon to come. Ready for the grand appearance? Our hope is set on Jesus.

Come Lord Jesus, come!!!

Announcements

  • 2018 LENTEN STUDY

    Greetings!

Have you accepted the gift? Have you opened the gift?  Might you know the gift of God is eternal life available through faith in Jesus Christ?

Max Lucado writes: Every gift from God reveals his love, but no gift reveals his love more than the gifts of the cross. These gifts came not wrapped in paper but in passion. They were not placed around a tree but around a cross. They were not covered with ribbons but sprinkled with the blood that Christ shed on our behalf.

In this five-session video Bible study, Max Lucado explores the many gifts that Christ provided to us at his crucifixion. These include not only the gift of the cross but also the gift of the thorns that pierced his brow. The nails that tore his flesh. The seamless robe that he removed for us. The empty tomb where he forever defeated sin and death.

The hill of the cross is rich with the gifts of God's grace. These were gifts he didn't have to give. The only required act for our salvation was the shedding of blood, yet God did so much more. So, as we unwrap these gifts, we need to pause and listen to his voice. As we do, perhaps we will hear him whisper, "I did it just for you."

The He Chose the Nails Study Guide includes video discussion questions, Bible exploration, personal study and reflection materials for in-between sessions, and an additional session for churches and small groups using this study as part of Lent. Session include

    1. He Chose to Be One of Us
    2. He Chose to Forgive Us
    3. He Chose to Invite Us into His Presence
    4. He Chose to Love Us Forever
    5. He Chose to Give Us Victory

You are invited to join the five weeks study, during the 2018 Lenten Season. Watch for links to the videos, and seize opportunities to join our discussions during Prayer Therapy on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM February 20th, 27th, March 6th, 13th, 20th and small group study on Wednesdays at 2:00 PM on February 21st, 28th, March 7th, 14th, and 21st.
