Born in Chun-Chon, South Korea, as the fourth of five children, Sun Joo Lee finds tremendous joy in learning and has a deep passion to share the Gospel. She majored in Arts & Crafts in Korea. She also studied early childhood and special education, working as a special education teacher in New York City. After her call to ministry, she undertook theological education at Drew Theological School and the School of Theology at Boston University, and the Doctor of Ministry in biblical interpretation and proclamation at the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
Sun Joo has served at a Reformed Church in America and at United Methodist churches in New York and Connecticut for over 20 years as a pastor. She was ordained as an elder in the United Methodist Church in 2020. As of July 1st, 2024, She has been appointed to First Church Baldwin, United Methodist Church in New York, being excited to grow and experience in God's grace with the church family. Her favorite verse in the Bible is 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
She enjoys Art and Bible interpretation, hiking and travel.
