On the evening of Saturday, May 8, as children and adults prepared for Children's Sunday in Whyman Hall, they heard a huge crash, and looked out to see a giant tree down right outside the windows. The tree fell right toward both of the Van Schaick's cars, and the garage. Unbelievably, the only damage was to a section of chain-link fence, and the back window of one of the cars. Even the basketball hoop escaped unscathed.
